Issues
Building a Lakewood that is more inclusive, sustainable, and full of opportunity for all—together.
Sustainable City & Transit
Building a more sustainable Lakewood and ensuring our city is a safe place for people to walk, ride, and roll are deeply intertwined. If elected as your city councilor, I will prioritize advancing initiatives to mitigate our city’s carbon footprint, better adapt to our changing climate, and improve our transportation infrastructure, including:
Investing in more sustainable green spaces & parks
Expanding multi-modal transportation systems (including sidewalks, bike lanes, and connections to transit)
Reducing emissions and advancing plans to keep residents and businesses safe through weather and climate emergencies
Affordable Housing
It is rapidly becoming more difficult to afford to live in Lakewood. Housing is a human right – everyone deserves a fair shot to build a future in our vibrant, diverse community. If elected, I will advance solutions that support the health and safety of our unhoused neighbors, help people stay housed through difficult times, and expand sustainable & affordable housing options, including:
Coordinating local emergency responses to shelter and protect our unhoused neighbors in severe weather
Expanding and simplifying the Safe Parking Initiative
Promoting transit-oriented, affordable development
Maximizing renters’ protections and assistance programs to help people stay housed
True Public Safety
We need to prioritize evidence-based solutions to handle our city’s challenges and ensure Lakewood is a safe place for all. Valuable city resources should be used to advance data-driven solutions to improve our communal well being and decrease crime. If elected, I will help our city invest in more compassionate initiatives and work with diverse constituents to promote community-driven solutions that improve true public safety, such as:
Advancing public health approaches to address behavioral health issues
Implementing community response programs to handle crises related to mental health, poverty, and substance use
Promoting economic opportunity and strong, connected communities
Addressing traffic and speeding concerns to promote safety on neighborhood streets
Collaborative Government
I wholeheartedly believe that the people most impacted by policies must be centered in efforts to change and improve them. You are the expert on your own lived experience – that is why we must amplify community voices like yours and collaborate to make policies that work for our community. As your city councilor, I will make local government more accessible and transparent for all, especially those with the biggest barriers, and boost community engagement from diverse perspectives, by:
Expanding multilingual city communications to ensure accessibility
Strengthening pipelines for developing community leaders to engage in city planning initiatives and boards
Co-creating solutions in partnership with underrepresented constituencies in our city to promote more diverse participation and the inclusion of more voices in our decision making
