Hi neighbor – I’m Isabel! Ever since organizing a playground protest to reform recess policy in third grade, I’ve believed in the transformative potential of the community to make change.
As a policy professional building a life in Lakewood with my partner Jarred and pup Mariposa, there are so many reasons why we are proud to call Lakewood home–like the arts, culture, food, and access to nature we get to enjoy. Our city has many exciting initiatives on the horizon, with improvements to infrastructure on Colfax, expansion of the arts scene, and more. But we are also grappling with housing, economic, and safety challenges exacerbated by the pandemic and climate change that are making it increasingly difficult for the people, businesses, and institutions that make living here special to afford to stay and thrive.
I am running for City Council in Ward 2 to work with neighbors like you to tackle these issues and build a brighter future so Lakewood is more inclusive, sustainable, and full of opportunity for all.
Meet Isabel
I am a seasoned policy advocate with a passion for civic engagement and community activation. With over 10 years of professional experience in nonprofits, I have dedicated my career to bringing people together across diverse communities to advance social change. Through my professional advocacy and grassroots activism, I have successfully taken on challenging issues--including rising health care costs, reproductive and economic justice, workers’ rights, food and climate justice, and more--by working collaboratively and daring to dream big about what we can accomplish together.
I hope to bring my community-driven leadership experience, policy knowledge, and passion for increasing civic engagement to advance a bold vision for Lakewood’s future in collaboration with city, county, and community leaders alike.
